Discord Fonts: How to Style Your Discord Name and Messages

Discord lets you stand out with a styled display name, a unique server nickname, and formatted messages. This guide explains what works, what Discord blocks, and how to keep your name readable in chats and voice channels.

What Discord actually allows

Discord display names and server nicknames accept Unicode characters, so styled letters paste in like normal text. Usernames have stricter rules than display names, so if a style is rejected for a username, try it as your display name instead. Keep the core name pronounceable, because people need to mention and call you.

How to style a Discord name

Open the Discord Fonts page, type your name, pick a bold or small-caps style, copy it, and paste it into your Discord profile. Preview it in a server chat before you settle on it, and check it on mobile, where long names get shortened.

Messages and formatting

For messages, Discord also has its own markdown for bold, italics and code blocks, which works alongside Unicode styles. Use one or the other for emphasis, not both at once, or your message becomes hard to read. For role names and channel topics, ask a server moderator first, because those are usually managed by staff.

Try the main Font Generator and save a plain version of your name as a backup.
